On May 30 and 31, Rockland Baptist Church hosted a significant cultural event for Sacramento’s Russian-speaking community — concerts by internationally acclaimed opera singer Diana Skavronskaya as part of the Gravity Arts Concert Series, organized by Rockland Gravity Arts.
For many attendees, these evenings became a true celebration of high art, offering unforgettable emotions, inspiration, and an opportunity to experience some of the finest works of classical music. The concert program featured romances by Russian composers, sacred classical works, and well-known operatic arias. Joining Diana Skavronskaya on stage were talented pianist Arina Makhinina and a special guest from Germany — composer Thomas Blaschke.
However, the concerts became more than simply a musical event; for many in attendance, they were also a profound spiritual experience. Between musical performances, Diana Skavronskaya shared her personal testimony about her journey to faith and coming to know God. Her sincere account of how the Lord worked in her life and artistic career deeply resonated with the audience.
Special attention was given to the relationship between art and spirituality. Pastor Nikolai Bugriev noted that true high art has the ability to draw people closer to God by awakening in the human soul a longing for beauty, eternity, and spiritual truth. For this reason, Rockland Church supports the cultural and educational project led by the Izmailov brothers and sees great value in hosting events of this kind.
According to the organizers, the concerts attracted considerable interest from Sacramento residents and visitors alike. Many attendees highlighted the performers’ exceptional professionalism, the warm atmosphere, and the rare opportunity to experience classical music performed live.
A pleasant addition to the program was the intermission, during which guests enjoyed signature desserts and refreshments while spending time together in an informal setting.
We hope that events like these will become a meaningful tradition in Sacramento, bringing people together through music, culture, and spiritual values.
