On March 18, The Good News Church in Tacoma hosted a GoLive conference. There were about 150 young people, mostly from Spokane, WA, and Salem, OR churches. There were guests from different states as well.
The organizers of the conference were: Choose Life Church, Good News Church, and Spring of Life Church. Yuriy Senchenko was the pastor overseeing the conference. The conference attendees came in anticipation of hearing a powerful preaching about growing in faith, practical seminars on evangelism, evangelism in the local supermarkets and public spaces, and to get information about the local and international mission in 2023.
Speakers and seminars included:
- «How to get outside of the comfort zone in order to preach the Gospel» - and talked about the mindset adjustments of an evangelist while not having a gift of an evangelist. Speaker: Yevgeniy Kiyan – Pastor of the Good News Church (Tacoma, WA).
- Method of personal evangelism “Seek and Find” (also known as the 5x5x365) – and covered how any Christian over the age of 14 can bring at least one person to Christ every year. Speaker: Yuriy Senchenko - Pastor of the Choose Life Church (Edgewood, WA).
- «Why do we need short-term missions’ trips?” – it covered what needs to be taken into consideration during the planning stages of the trip, and what influence does it have on the participants, with a special emphasis on the Evangelism in Ukraine. Speaker: Michael Cherenkov – Pastor of the Revival Church (Vancouver, WA).
- «How to share the Gospel at a workplace» - about how to respectfully share your faith at work, and to be a positive influence on coworkers. Speaker: Timofey Petrov – youth pastor of The Good News Church (Tacoma, WA).
There was also a delegation from California: a team of Vasiliy Khripunov from Grace Family Church, and 4 people from the Bethel Church, 4 people from the House of Prayer Church in West Sacramento, as well as 3 people from Bryte Church. The speakers shared their experiences of organizing local and long-term missions, which includes not only the work with the immigrants from the former USSR here in the U.S., but also missionary trips to Europe, Ukraine, and Brazil.
After the reception, everyone was divided into teams of 2-4 people and were sent to various regions of the city for personal evangelism. This was somewhat of a training in overcoming fear—to speak with strangers about the real meaning of Easter, as well as to suggest them to pray for their needs and invite them to one of the local churches.
In conclusion of the conference, there was a worship evening led by the band from the Spring of Life Church.
