The annual prayer breakfast of The Moms in Prayer Ministry, which usually happens at the beginning of a school year, took place on September 9 at the Second Slavic Baptist Church in Sacramento. Over a hundred women from various churches of PCSBA were able to attend this event.
The main purpose of the meeting was to pray for the children and for the teachers for the upcoming school year. The mothers were praying for God’s protection over every school, every student, and all the school staff. They also prayed that the prayers of mothers would unify mothers of all churches, so that every school of the cities would be bathed in prayer, and that our children would be safe.
Olga Drovorub, who is the leader of PCSBA’s Moms in Prayer Ministry, talked about the ministry of Moms in Prayer and their core values, as well as their purpose. The program of the event included wonderful hymns and testimonies, prayers of gratitude, confessions, thanksgiving, and intercession.
It's important to emphasize that it is not by an accident that the topic of fears was chosen. Our children are experiencing fear often: some are afraid of the dark, some of a vicious dog, and some are afraid to lose their mom and dad. Our goal as parents is to help the child to develop, to overcome their fears, and come to God as they entrust their fears to Him. Only the Lord can fully free our children from fears and protect them from the world of sin – God is our refuge! We can come to Him in search of help, power, protection, and salvation. This attribute of God is supported by Scriptures:
- «God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea» (Psalm 46:1-2)
- «There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to your help, and through the skies in His majesty. The eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; and He drove out the enemy from before you, and said, “Destroy!”» (Deuteronomy 33:26-27)
- «For You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy» (Psalm 61:3)
- «I cried out to You, o LORD; I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living» (Psalm 142:5)
- «O LORD, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge in the day of distress! » (Jeremiah 16:19)
We are grateful to the leadership of the Second Slavic Baptist Church for a wonderful reception, organization, and a delicious breakfast. Let us continue praying for our children and keep our families at the forefront of our minds. We must remember that the souls of our children is the only thing that we can take to heaven with us.
