On January 13, The Spring Church in Moraga had a leaders meeting for those serving in mission ministry and for PCSBA’s pastors of Bay Area. Aleksey Kharlamov was the one to initiate and organize this event. He is a pastor of the church that recently became part of the PCSBA.
Bay Area is a difficult area not just for the church plants, but also for the existing churches. The missionary center truly is a “must” in this area. Without the preaching of the Gospel, growth is impossible. In order to establish the relationships with the Slavic diaspora, it is necessary to personally get to know people and to spend time with those who are visiting the Bay Area. Judging by six other churches in the region, this area is very vast.
Aleksey scheduled the event so that every person had an opportunity to talk about themselves, their ministry, and the church that they represent. There was a good discussion about the present and the future of mission ministry of the PCSBA not only overseas, but also in the U.S. That is why the leader of the Missions ministry, Vadim Yurchak, was also involved in this event.
About three hours of fellowship passed by quickly. Those who were able to attend, unanimously agreed to have similar regular meetings in the future. That is how the informal fellowship of local churches begins: in uniting to share the Gospel in the Bay Area. This is a good beginning, and I would like to see more of these informal events in other regions of the PCSBA’s churches.
Praise God for the organizers who see the need of strengthening relationships, investing in friendships, and providing encouragement and support for one another.
