Peace to you brothers and sisters beloved by God! It is my joy to inform you that with God’s help and after a lengthy preparation, the Sunday School Ministry was able to organize one more event for the directors and their spouses this year. On February 1-3, there was an annual winter retreat at Sierra Pines Camp.
For many years now, our ministry organizes various events and conferences for Sunday school ministers for the purpose of instruction, sharing of experience and practice of working with children. Because of their busy schedules in ministry, it is possible to gather the Sunday School directors only once a year. Every church has their own events: conferences, camps, children’s program, worship during church services, which the Sunday school ministries also attend in addition to their family obligations and work to support themselves financially. However, many of the directors were able to find the time to get away from all of their activities and to rest in nature and to get refreshed for the upcoming year.
After many meetings with our committee, it was the Lord’s will to put into our heart the following theme which was interesting for everyone: “It is Enough, Lord” based on 1 Samuel 19. Sergei Sergeyevich Tarasenko was the main speaker who by God’s grace was able to unpack this wonderful theme which the Lord used to renew our zeal and desire to minister to Him while overcoming trials and difficulties. We would also like to express our gratitude to the camp organizers who took care of all of our needs so that everyone would be warm and well fed.
The Lord was gracious in giving us good weather as well. After an abundant snowfall, everyone had to work on digging up his or her cars from three-feet of snow. After hearing enough feedback from the retreat participants, we concluded that everyone was very pleased by this retreat. We thank God that this retreat was not in vain. We hope that in the upcoming year the Lord will once again gather us all together in for another retreat so that we could be together in the unified effort for the glory of God.
