On March 16, 2019, there was the first meeting for the preparation of the first ever International Slavic Missionary Congress for the Slavic diaspora in America.
The Pacific Coast Slavic Baptist Association has been an active base for hosting various missionary projects in many counties of the world including countries of the Union of Independent Countries, former Soviet Union. The association’s leadership and missionary department became the initiators of hosting such a congress. Almost all of the leaders of Slavic and Ukrainian Baptist associations of America and outside of it were invited to the first preparation meeting. There were leaders from North-Eastern, and Mid-Western, Russian-Ukrainian, Russian, Ukrainian unions of ECB, and Moldova. There were also representatives from missions and those responsible for the movement of the planting of Russian-speaking churches of Europe.
During the meeting, the goals and format of the congress were established. Thanks to the technology acquired prior to the meeting, it was possible for those who are on the other side of the globe to be able to participate in this meeting. During the meeting, the sense of unity and mutual support was on all of the participants in the planning of this congress, which is scheduled to take place on May 14-16, 2020 in Sacramento. The execution preparatory committee consisting of representatives from all associations and unions was also affirmed. The committee will begin practical preparation and organization of this congress.
May this upcoming congress be a big blessing for all of its participants and be a new push in the development of new direction in the missionary ministry and will aid in improvement of coordination and development of an overall strategy for an effective use of the resources of Baptist associations for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
