On Saturday, April 6, Bethel Church hosted a training with the involvement of brothers and sisters who are part of a short-term missionary trips to various countries. The meeting was organized by the PCSBA’s Missionary Ministry Department “Power in Truth”. The main speaker was Michael Cherenkov, the vice-president of the international Christian organization “Mission to Eurasia”. His presentation consisted of three parts: How to get ready for missions (conviction of the missionary call); clearance, difficulties, decisions, fruit of ministry.
“There is room for growth in the short-term mission trips, and this school of discipleship of Christ is for life”, said Michael Cherenkov. “Just like the disciples of Christ who were sent to the missions’ field, also have the power from God to proclaim the Gospel and heal the wounds in the world. Pavel Nicolay who is the founder of the Russian Christian Student Movement living in the 19th century wrote: “God does not seek copies – God seeks the originals. That is why it is important to understand your calling and your own motivation for ministry”.
During the meeting there was an exercise of explaining Christ as a Savior within a minute to those around the table, and then of the love of the Heavenly Father (also within a minute), as well as the personal testimony. There was also a suggestion to provide spiritual support to people in various situations such as those who had less than ideal experience of dealing with Christians, pregnant teenager, Muslim, atheist, etc.
Brothers and sisters who are planning to go on the missions trips this year shared their needs. Those prayer requests were prayed for by the ministers.
There were words of encouragement and exhortation in that Christian happiness is in the usefulness to God and people; the greatest need of the world is tied to the great desire of the soul to help others. We must see the value of God in the world, perform various ministries while being humble servants of the great Lord – Christ.
