“We, being many, are one body in Christ” (Romans 12:5a) – one church. Church is not limited by geography; it transcends borders and vast distances. The youth choir from the Second Slavic Baptist Church of Sacramento have demonstrated that principle by driving through the night over 700 miles to visit us the youth of Good News Church in Tacoma, Washington over Memorial Day weekend.
It was a wonderful time of fellowship with one another. We were so blessed to receive our friends and be served by them with their singing and acting. As one of our youth members put it – “They blessed us through the program, and we blessed them through hospitality.”
We were all impressed and inspired by the amazing program that they put together for us. Their choir’s singing was truly majestic. It touched our hearts and enveloped us in a state of complete awe of God’s glory; and, was then perfectly capped off with a skit that was a most powerful depiction of the gospel message. My six-year-old little sister even came to tears while watching.
Even more than the program, we loved the fellowship that we were able to have. Youth from both Good News and Second Slavic churches have expressed how much they enjoyed the time spent with one another.
“Everyone was so friendly and showed Christ through their actions… we were able to serve God and [each other] in fellowship and everything we had. Overall, it was a great experience.” – Second Slavic Church youth member, A.O.
“It was really cool! When they sang as a choir, they sounded amazing because there are so many talented singers and they have such a big choir. But then, just minutes later, you’ve got fellowship and you realize this is just a bunch of youth just like you.” – Good News Church youth member, A.S.
“My favorite thing about the trip was that everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I really felt like the church was one big family. It is so amazing how Christ unites everyone no matter where we live. I’m hoping Good News Church youth will come to Sacramento to visit us.” – Second Slavic Church youth member, V.M.
Whatever distance may be between us, we are one in Christ. We are looking forward to continue our relationship with many more visits to each other. May God bless our friendship!
