Since we are presently in the COVID-19 epidemic, we are exhorting you to follow all rules of safety and prevention as recommended by the government, and are focused on preventing its spread. God allows certain trials into our lives in order to test our trust and confidence that He is controlling everything.
This epidemic demonstrates the globalization of the world in which we ar
e living in, as well as the interdependence of people living in various countries. All of the events are pointing to the coming of the Day of the Lord, and encourage us to be ready to meet the King of kings, whose steps are heard louder and louder. The words of Jesus Christ are coming true: “There will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines…” Luke 21:11
In answering the question of how must Christians react to the last events, Jesus answered: “When these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near”. Luke 21:28
It is not the panic and fear, sadness and despair, but hope and confidence in God, His peace, which surpasses all human comprehension that must fill our hearts. Let us pray that He will give us strength and boldness to be His witnesses during the time of dismay and despair. He made us His messengers of heavenly joy, hope, and encouragement to those who is especially in need of our involvement. These circumstances give us more opportunities to serve one another and to love one another as we demonstrate His love not through words, but through actions.
May these circumstances be the beginning of the revival of every Christian and the church as a whole!
With love in Christ,
Committee of the Pacific Coast Association of the ECB Churches
