Our campground, Sierra Pines, will be shut down for the entire summer season of this year. It is located on the land belonging to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and is obligated to follow the rules established by the jurisdictions of the El Dorado County, U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. At the moment, these agencies are still assessing the damage and remedial measures from last year's fire, which engulfed a huge area of almost 90,000 hectares and passed through the camp.
Vasiliy Stupin who is the chairman of the Board of Directors at Sierra Pines says: “Because of the clean-up standards and testing, followed by the testing itself, and the water and soil purification on the land of the campground, the process could take few months. That is why we are forced to cancel any of the current group reservations from the end of spring and until August 31, 2022. We realize that camp prep requires a lot of planning, time, energy, and resources, and we wanted to share this information with you as soon as possible so that you would be able to find a suitable alternative”.
As a reminder, Sierra Pines is a Christian campground located at High Sierras of Northern California on the border of the Desolation Wilderness. The campground is situated at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level, 20 minutes south of Lake Tahoe and two hours east of Sacramento. The campground is located in a remarkably beautiful and peaceful place, and provides a place of rest not just physically, but also spiritually. This is a place of retreats, children’s camps and conferences. It has a volleyball court and an Olympic pool.
Continue to pray for those doing any necessary work at the campground, improving ecological conditions, and for the speedy re-opening of the Sierra Pines Camp so that they would be able to host Christian camps and family vacations.
