For the fourth time in a row, the Living Stones and Grace Avenue Bible Churches had a joint youth camp. This year, the event took place on May 27th through the 30th at the beautiful camp at Mt. Hope in Forbestown, CA. Seventy young men and women ages thirteen years and over were able to attend this Christian camp.
According to the camp feedback from staff, they had a wonderful time of rest: great location and tasty food, an opportunity to spend time outdoors with their friends, meet new people, and to play different table games and sports. The time at the pool and hikes were also memorable, as well as the evenings by the campfire and playing capture the flag at night. However, the most important part was the opportunity to pray and grow in the Word of God. “The most encouraging thing for me was to see how sincere the youth are at worshipping the Lord, and how sometimes they were singing louder than the worship band on stage”, said Yevgeniy Belous who is the youth leader at Grace Avenue Bible Church.
Pastor Sergey Tarasenko was teaching the camp about Living a Life for the Glory of God. The camp participants learned how to be wise and humble, as well as about friendships and sacrifice. It’s important to understand how to live and to serve, to be a successful Christian who worships God not only in words, but also through their lives as they reflect God’s glory, and how to overcome temptations and obstacles on the journey to heaven.
The youth were able to form new friendships and had opportunity to expand their worldviews in learning Biblical truths. Many were disappointed that the camp came to an end so suddenly, and they are already waiting in anticipation for the next summer. “For you have been bought for a price: therefore, glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:20.)
