About Speakers
Kit and Drew are available to lead engaging Bible discussions, live seminars, church retreats, special occasions, or lay leadership training. They have a lively humorous style to engage people of all ages. Their specialty is marriage enrichment, but as retired missionaries can lead in any biblical topic.
Biography
Kit Coons
After attending the University of Minnesota, Kit joined Campus Crusade for Christ and completed their intensive AIT missionary training. Kit was assigned to a heavily Muslim region in Nigeria, Africa. In Nigeria, Kit won the Culturalization Award for West Africa and met Drew, also a missionary, to whom she has been married for 33 years.
Drew Coons
Drew graduated with high honor as an engineer from Auburn University and then first from Georgia Tech’s graduate school. He designed critical components for the Space Shuttle and later worked as a Development Engineer. Drew received 24 US patents and completed his career as part of the Commercial Products Marketing Team responsible for $100 million in annual sales.
Ministry Together
After marrying, the Coons were active in a local church by specializing in outreach and small group discipleship. In 1989, God led them to bring the ministry of FamilyLife to their area of South Carolina. In the next 10 years, nearly 20,000 benefitted from their ministry. Since then the Coons have spoken at many FamilyLife events both in the USA and all over the world.
Ministry Experience
Spoke at 119 events, mostly 1½ day marriage seminars in America. Spoke for FamilyLife in 34 countries outside the USA and trained 100's of international speakers and leaders. Church Outreach Directors and 3 years of inner city ministry experience. Spoke in 100's of church services and meetings. Started over 450 home Bible study groups led by lay leaders. Served as full time foreign missionaries in both Nigeria and New Zealand. Spent 35 years as full time and lay missionaries including 19 years as “FamilyLife” staff.
The Coons speak and teach together as a team. They have a fun style using humor and entertaining stories to convey practical and meaningful biblical principles
