On December 14th, 2017, two churches of Sacramento (Russian Baptist Church of Bryte and Grace Family Church) hosted unified prayer meetings of Slavic Baptist churches.
The meetings were attended by pastors and church members who wished to unite in prayer to God and ask Him for a spiritual revival and unity among churches. They also prayed for our youth and for those who are ensnared to various addictions, as well as for rulers, for the persecuted Christians around the world, for the upcoming 2018 year, and about our eagerness to meet our Lord Jesus Christ. There were short sermons on specific themes, and then people were broken up into groups of three where they cried out to God and asked for God’s blessing and leading, and for His power for spiritual victories. The prayer requests were categories and each group prayed for the pressing needs that were mentioned. In the prayer meeting at Bryte, while exhorting to pray for the youth, Leonid P. Kioroglo briefly mentioned what humanity is going through now, and especially what the youth is going through. The youth has to make serious lifelong choices; they have to make those choices today and will have to make in the future. The recording of his sermon can be found here.
It was good to see many people who desired to pray. We are strong when we pray. We are capable of influencing the environment when God is acting through us and answers our prayers. May this upcoming New Year be a year of consistent petition to God, as was the norm in the apostolic church in Jerusalem whose members “And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in the word of God with boldness” Acts 4:31.
