There is a ministry that few people notice, but is very necessary in almost every church. They notice it only when it is not there or it stops working. That is the sound ministry. We immediately recognize the importance of this ministry when during the Sunday morning worship service, for example, we cannot hear the preacher well, or there is static, or we get the faulty amplification. After that, we start appreciating the importance of having quality sound equipment. Many years after Rick Warren opened The Saddleback Church, he was asked a question: “What would you do differently as part of your church plant?”. He said that he would have bought quality sound equipment.
Every church resolves the issue of quality of the sound in their own way. However, not all churches, especially the new ones are able to afford good equipment. That is also true for the missionary churches. Vasiliy Kadoshnikov has been serving in equipping many churches in Ukraine, Russia, and other countries for over 20 years. He buys the equipment himself and sends the supplies to various churches. This is truly a unique ministry. Vasiliy’s investment imparts vitality into the quality of church services in general, as well as into the music ministry of various churches. Along with the sound equipment, he also provides a lot of track accompaniments that are readily-available for both the solo, as well as the congregational singing. This is especially valuable in those churches that do not have any musicians. The quality of the orchestra’s accommodation becomes a blessing to everyone. God allowed us to live at a time when thanks to the media possibilities, we can overcome the shortage of musicians in our midst.
A few days ago I asked Vasiliy to help our Missionary church in Valencia where due to their relocation to a different church building, they were left with no equipment at all. Praise God that He softened the heart of Vasiliy, and he immediately gathered all the components of the good sound system and sent it to Spain. Later on, I was able to meet with Vasiliy and Vadim Yurchak who is the leader of PCSBA’s Missions Ministry for a time of prayer. We asked God to bless this equipment, and its delivery so that it can be useful to the local church. Vasiliy is giving the equipment only when it is accompanied by prayer. I see great wisdom in this and I think that this marks the difference between ministry and charity. Full dedication to God, even with the equipment points to the spiritual foundation of Vasiliy’s ministry. Praise God that 20 years ago, he saw the need of many churches, and has been practically helping in fulfilling their needs. I am confident that the church of Valencia will be grateful to receive this gift from Vasiliy, and will receive it as the blessing from God!
