Every year the churches of our Association host kids’ camps. From August 5 through 9, Second Slavic Baptist Church in Sacramento hosted such a camp called Vacation Bible School with a theme “ROAR”. This is a wonderful blessing for children since they can get to know God better during these camps, pray together, have a good time, be entertained, and sing many new songs.
At Second Slavic Baptist Church, the youth starts their preparation a few months before the camp, developing camp program, prepare handouts, costumes, and reach out to people in the community inviting them to come to camp. They came to us as well, and when they found out that we have grandchildren, invited us to camp as well. We joyfully agreed.
Then the camp time comes. I was the one who dropped of the grandchildren, and of course I was observing what the children were going to be doing. I found out that the camp is in English, with translation provided for those who may need clarification. I really liked how diligently the youth approaches everything. When children came to church every day, they were welcomed with uplifting joyful encouragement. The children realized that they are welcomed and loved.
Joyful and impactful songs, narratives, games, and discussions were engaging throughout the camp. Everything was centered on God, who He is Powerful, Loving, Saving, Way, Truth, and Life, and most important one in life. Every day of the camp was filled with various activities. The youth put in a lot of work, presented things in an understandable way while making it fun for everyone in ministering to God.
Praise God for these wonderful events in the lives of our children and grandchildren. We will pray for the fruit of the sowing of the Word of God in the hearts of children.
