On August 24, the Russian Baptist Church of Bryte hosted a semi-annual meeting of church pastors of the Association. Close to forty church pastors gathered for this event, including seven head pastors.
There were so many things that had to be gone over. Three brothers, V. Stupin, G. Gavelovskiy, and I. Mileyev presented a book called Dangerous Calling. The book is written by Paul Tripp and covers the unique challenges of the pastoral ministry. These brothers briefly described the contents of some parts of the book and pointed out the importance of reading it by our pastors. In the preface of the book, the author says the following about the book.
«The book puts us face to face with a problem of the pastoral culture, often having unhealthy presuppositions, and expose or intensify the temptations that are unique to pastoral ministry. This book is a warning that exhorts us to humbly study ourselves and start changing. Its goal is to challenge us and to encourage us to change. Sometimes it will upset us, but I am convinced, that the goal of this book reflects that which the Lord calls me.”
- V. Mileyev on behalf of the Association gifted this book to every senior pastor and encouraged them to get this book to every church pastor. The book is also available online in electronic format.
A significant portion of the meeting was also set aside for updating the Association’s bylaws. The 1998 version of the bylaws with many corrections and additions is clearly outdated for today’s world. That is why on the previous convention there was a decision to bring it up to date to the demands of contemporary issues and edit the previous content. The updated bylaws will be presented for approval on the 82nd convention that will take place in October.
The meeting participants also proposed the issue of sexual education that is on the mind of so many parents to be brought up on the 82nd convention as well.
In conclusion of the meeting, the representatives of the Leadership Resource ministry shared about the training that they provide for pastors and other church ministers to properly interpret the Bible and teach the Word of God to the next generation of believers.
