"In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus". 1Thes. 5.18
Dear brothers and sisters! Happy Thanksgiving Day!
During these days of celebration, may our hearts be filled with the special thanksgiving to God for everything: his spiritual blessings, brotherhood, physical well-being, and for every day of our lives! There is no other alternative: there is either worship of God, or worship of “modern idols” that many people worship today. People who are ungrateful to God easily become idolaters. They exchange the place of God with different things, ideas, or people. “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened…they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator” (Rom 1:21, 25).
Despite varying attitude of people toward God, He continues to take care of everyone. “For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Matt 5:45). God continues to care for us as he cared for the people of Lystra. Apostle Paul proclaimed to them the Only, Living, True God, Who “did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17).
He continues to show His care over our country, state, and city in which we live. His testimony of Himself lives on in thanksgivings, mercy, love, and lovingkindness to us!
During these days of celebration, may our hearts be filled with thanks to God for the rains from heaven, the fruitful seasons, and for the abundance of food on our tables, as well as for the joy that fill our hearts.
