My name is Roman Zelenski, I am 45 years old, a father of four children, and a husband of a wonderful wife Priscilla. I was born and raised in Ukraine, but along with many others in the post-Soviet Union time, moved to Argentina in 2000 in search of better living conditions. And I did find them, or better to say, that they have found me. It was there in Argentina while attending an Evangelical Slavic Church that the Lord regenerated my heart, gave me forgiveness, and I experienced my second birth through the Holy Spirit. The rest just followed naturally: baptism, spiritual growth, and ministry.
In 2007, both my wife and I graduated from a Bible seminary in Timperley, Argentina, and a year later, we were invited by the Ukrainian Union of ECB of Paraguay to serve at Fram, Paraguay.
While being at Paraguay, I served as a pastor in a small church for both the Ukrainians, as well as the local Indian-Guarani people. In the two-and-a-half-year ministry in Paraguay, the Lord not only blessed our local church, but also gave us an opportunity to establish a new missionary center which is now serving as an autonomous church.
After two-and-a-half years of serving, for the reasons that are outside of our control and with great sadness in the heart, we had to leave behind a beloved church of dear brothers and sisters and return to Buenos Ares, Argentina. When we returned, we became a part of the Bible Seminary staff and are served as a chaplain and an administrator.
In 2017, due to personal family issues, we moved to Spain with our family where we were able to find a new spiritual family and ministry in the Spanish-speaking church in Torredembar. Then in 2019, we were invited to help and serve in the Russian-speaking church of ECB, “The Spring of Life” in Barcelona.
The Lord gave us love and grace towards this church, and in 2022 with the support of the local church, I was ordained as a pastor of Evangelical Christian Baptists Spring of Life Church in Barcelona.
At the moment, we as a church are going through a stage of formation and development. We are preaching the Word of God to the Russian-speaking immigrants. The church has immigrants from Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, and even Uruguay and Argentina. Our church services are mainly in Russian, but we also try to incorporate Spanish as well in order to help people to adapt better to the culture and the language of their country where the Lord has led us in order to bring the light of the Gospel.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- Building for the church services
- Growth in the youth ministry and ministry among immigrants and refugees from THE FORMER SOVIET UNION.
